OPERATIONS MANAGER

The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of all paving projects with the intent of ensuring high-quality, full-service results every time.   We are looking for someone who has strong organizational skills, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a team of project coordinators, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Manage and oversee all phases of asphalt, sealcoating, and striping construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
  • Manage and oversee snow plowing operations.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on project documentation, including permits, contracts, change orders, and purchase orders.
  • Manage equipment needs, schedule and facilitate repairs.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitor and maintain safety and quality standards on all job sites.
  • Provide regular reports to Project Managers on project status, budget, and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license.

GRADER OPERATOR

Experienced Grading Operator

Position summary: Under the direction of the Foreman, the Grading Operator will be responsible for operating several types of power construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner. This equipment is specific to, but is not limited to, road graders, rollers, dozers, excavators and skid steers.

Role and Responsibilities: Operate equipment as directed for the construction of roads and other projects as needed. Work with one or several types of power construction equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury and property damage. Able to read and understand grade stakes, automated machine control cab displays, etc. Depending on assignment, able to properly utilize equipment to accomplish tasks involving grade, slope, yield, etc. as needed. Depending on assignment, able to safely maneuver machinery in tight quarters, around people, traffic and utilities. Clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Assist with repairs as needed.

Ability to use a laser level, acquire and establish grades on projects is a desired skill in this position.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Ability to clean, maintain and assist in repairing equipment
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record Ability to proficiently operate grader and skid steer
  • Preferred Skills High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Class A CDL or ability/willingness to obtain
  • Minimum of two years of previous work experience in grader operation
  • Be able to tolerate variable weather conditions from extreme heat to cold Work in a dirty and dusty environment
  • Be able to walk and/or stand for extended time (up to an entire day’s shift)
  • Be able to comprehend, understand and follow policies, procedures and safety requirements
  • Have the ability to hear and see to the level of accomplishment for above requirements

ASPHALT SCREED OPERATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Asphalt Screed Operator responsible for controlling material taken into the paver and the depths of the material placed by the paver. Manipulates hand controls to dictate the movements of the screed, which spreads and levels asphalt on subgrade. Perform normal maintenance such as oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to the equipment. May perform other related duties, such as adding or removing screed extensions, installing or removing automatic devices or other accessories associated with the machine.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Match all paver joints and maintain consistent joints.
2. Keep screed adjusted properly and maintain mat quality.
3. Assist in handwork as needed.
4. Sets up screed electronics in conjunction with Paver Operator.
5. Assure proper storage and maintenance of all screed equipment.
6. Job site clean up.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Field Environment – Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat
2. Ability to work long days and Saturdays as required.

1. Reporting to work on time and not leaving early unless authorized.
2. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
3. Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off.
4. Performing such other duties as may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
